Job Overview Our company is a leading provider of financial services, connecting clients to the global markets ecosystem through digital platforms, comprehensive clearing and execution services, personalized high-touch support, and deep industry expertise. As a Level 2 Support Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our trading systems, working closely with Global Support teams to provide 2nd Line support to business. The role encompasses mission-critical support for our trading systems, including application testing, automation, configuration, system monitoring, and support of production trading desks. Responsibilities: - Provide Level 2 support of our trading systems. - Elevate issues to other teams by providing detailed log analysis, replicating issues in production or test environments to bring the development team up to speed quickly on the problem. - Document outages and take an active role in Incident and Problem Management, interacting with development teams to drive permanent resolutions. - Liaise with Traders on the trade desk to allow full immersion in the trading workflows. - Create/enhance tools to make operational workflows more automated and less error-prone. - Add to the monitoring infrastructure to allow more proactive detection of problems and issues. - Identify risks and provide guidance around timing of changes and releases. - Investigate user queries via log file and process interaction, e.g. order issues, flow breaks, booking issues and Pricing. - Interrogate SQL Server databases for investigations using simple and complex SQL queries. - Collaborate closely with IT Release Management, QA, Dev, and Infrastructure teams for software and scripts rollouts using best practices from IT Service Management/ITIL. - Interact regularly with front, middle, and back office Teams. - Provide Out of Office hours Support and work in a shift Rota including Weekends. - Communicate effectively with Offshore teams. Requirements To succeed in this role, you will need: - A minimum of 3 years' experience in an application support role. - Proficiency in either PowerShell/Python and previous use to automate tasks. - Good knowledge of SQL and Databases ideally having worked with SQL Server. - Team Player and able to work under pressure. - Excellent troubleshooting/problem solving skills across a wide variety of technologies and disciplines. - Previous experience in supporting multi-tiered applications. - Exposure to Distributed systems. - Fluent English (written and spoken). - Passion for technology, willingness to learn and self-improve. - Ability to prioritize and work independently, placing high value on improving processes and procedures. - Exposure to programming languages is a plus. - Participate in On Call support Rota including weekends. Key requirements include: - Knowledge of Linux command shell navigation. - Experience working on a trading floor. - Experience within the financial sector ideally in a Trading Environment. - Experience with FIX/Exchange protocols is a plus. - Working in an Agile Scrum environment. - Understanding of connectivity and order routing in an equity trading environment. - Familiarity with Visual Studio and TFS. - Exposure to Jira and Confluence. - Understanding of messaging systems e.g. TIBCO, JMS, Messaging Queues. - Experience working with open source tools like Elastic Search, Grafana, Time Series Databases. - Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering and DevOps concepts and practices.
