The Director of Finance and HR is responsible for overseeing financial operations and Human Resources. This role helps to ensure financial stability, operational efficiency, and effective collaboration across teams to support the organization's strategic goals. This individual serves along with the Executive Director as a standing member of the Board of Directors Finance Committee. Provide direct supervision of the Business Office, Payroll, and Human Resources. Identify and coordinate training needs for supervised staff to meet internal and external standards or regulations. Document staff performance and behavior in employee files, including disciplinary actions, annual reviews, and job descriptions. Oversee the management and coordination of all financial reporting activities, including the Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Activities, and Budget vs. Actual Report. Ensure the preparation of the year-end Statement of Cash Flows and collect supporting documentation and schedules. Present financial information and operational recommendations to the Executive Director and Board of Directors to facilitate timely adjustments aligned with the approved budget. Alert the Executive Director to trends or issues impacting the organization's financial health and provide recommendations to address potential threats or opportunities. Provide leadership with operating budgets and oversee the production of internal financial reports, revenue and expense projections, cash flow analyses, and specialized reports for the Executive Director, leadership team, and Board of Directors. Staff the Board of Directors' Finance Committee, record minutes, and provide comprehensive financial reports. Ensure compliance with financial policies by maintaining and updating internal control systems to safeguard the organization's assets. Produce accurate financial/accounting data in compliance with GAAP (FASB Standards), audit requirements, and funding standards. Manage/oversee the financial and workers compensation year-end audits, as well as 1099 processing. Oversee the preparation of financial statements and supplementary schedules. Manage all purchasing, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable activities, ensuring timely payments and the pursuit of past-due receivables. Evaluate the efficiency and accuracy of the billing system annually. Oversee payroll operations, including payroll preparation, tax remittances, benefits records, and payroll system updates, and act as the primary liaison to the payroll vendor. Provide staff training on payroll/HR systems and employee benefits. Assist in designing, implementing, and calculating wage incentives, commissions, and salaries for staff. Oversee the organization's investment accounts, conduct annual reviews with vendors and the Executive Director, and provide recommendations to the Executive Director. Evaluate cost-effective benefit plans to attract and retain qualified employees and oversee business insurance plans and healthcare coverage analyses. Manage all discretionary benefits, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, HRA, 401(k), paid leave, and other employee benefits. Foster positive working relationships with customers, vendors, and internal teams. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; a master's degree is a plus. A minimum of five years of experience in accounting or a financial management position is required. Minimum two years of management experience or a combination of education and relevant work experience is required. Experience and proficiency with QuickBooks Online version is required. Experience with Employee Benefits management and Human Resources practices is preferred. Not-for-profit fund accounting experience, including grants management, is preferred. A Satisfactory credit history is required. A valid Driver's license and reliable transportation are required. Previous experience working alongside people with disabilities is preferred.
