Purpose TheCaribbean, Central America & Uruguay (CCAU) Technology SystemsReliability team interfaces with Senior Management, Infrastructure,IT Operations, Global System Reliability Office and businesspartners to continuously improve the stability, reliability andefficiency of our Banking systems through Site ReliabilityEngineering (SRE) based principles and practices that will includecontinuous people, process and technology enhancements in supportof our rapidly changing technology product portfolio. The incumbentwill work cross-functionally amongst a variety of teams and be acontributor in all significant engineering services or solutionsdelivered to CCAU Technology and stakeholders. The incumbent willalso have an understanding ‘what could go wrong’, help to solvecomplex problems and have a flare for communicating andparticipating in discussions with technical and business partners. The incumbent will work directly with our Software Engineeringteams to both maintain and operate our existing technology andbuild our next generation of technologies. Accountabilities -Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationshipsand leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. -Work in collaboration with the Global System ReliabilityEngineering team as well as with software development, Quality,Product and Data Engineering teams to Champion SRE/ DevOps cultureand practices. - Leading senior stakeholder communication, buildand champion strategic initiatives to address the big boulders inachieving best in class stable, reliable, secure and performingsystems. - Implement and govern a ‘Lean’ technology servicemanagement system amongst service owners to ensure continuousreliability improvement. - Ensure continuous improvement andexecution of quality and timely major incident root cause analysisand blameless postmortem activities to ensure we take action toavoid similar problems in the future. - Drive prioritization ofreliability features and contribute to the design, development anddelivery of effective tooling, alerts, and automated responses toidentify and address reliability risk. - Working closely withglobal and regional architecture boards, champion the definitionand implementation of resilience policies for new and existingsolutions. - Lead initiatives to continuously refine our build,plan and deploy practices for improved stability, reliability,efficiency, repeatability and security. You’ll create plans,collaborate with other SROs and DevOps team members - coordinatingactivity with development and business leads to increase servicelevels, lower costs, and support delivery velocity objectives. -Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should beincorporated into day-to-day activities and decisions. - Activelypursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respectiveareas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conductand the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy,adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls tomeet obligations with respect to operational, compliance,AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. - Champions a high-performanceenvironment and contributes to an inclusive work environment. Dimensions - 4 employees supervised - 10 Countries / 3 regions /multiple business units supported - 3 regional systems on separatesoftware stacks. Education / Experience / Other Information -Expert understanding of SRE principles. - 10+ years of experiencein IT with at least 3 years in system architecture (5+ preferred). - ITIL V3 Foundation Cert. in ITSM with Professional experiencewith ITSM tools (ServiceNow, a plus). - Strong understanding ofService Management principles, Service Level Objectives andmeasuring resiliency. - Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, orequivalent. - Excellent communication (both verbal and written). The ability to communicate confidently and clearly to executiveleadership team including both business and technology. -Professional programming experience in one or more of thefollowing: C, C++, Java. - Advanced experience with GCP/Azure/AWS. - Deep understanding of containerization using Docker or similar. Working Conditions Hybrid work environment in a standardoffice-based environment and work from home; non-standard hours area common occurrence; Limited travel internationally.
