Purpose The Senior Analyst, GBM Internal ControlGovernance & Controls executes upon key controls and processesthat contribute to GBM Internal Control’s ability to effectivelymonitor for, and manage, a variety of risks. The position willrequire a great deal of collaboration with global stakeholders andcolleagues both across Internal Control and the business lines. Accountabilities - Execute upon a number of periodic (daily /weekly / monthly / annual) controls and processes that have bothregional and global reach and applicability. - Execute supervisorysupport and initial review of the applicability and monitoring of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Regulation of Short Salesand FINRA Rule 3110 for CFTS/SEC/FINRA AP’s eligible to WFH. -Publish output/results – inclusive of any breaks and outliers – tokey stakeholders as required by the control/process in question. -Collaborate closely with regional and global partners on theresolution of any breaks and/or remediation items. - Escalateeffectively to Associate, Governance & Controls, GBM InternalControl in the instance that controls/processes cannot be executedon time and/or there are issues in their execution. - Be aneffective manager of change – work to transition in newresponsibilities/activities as the team, and its mandate continuesto evolve. - Seek to deliver upon process improvements wherever youobserve that potential – bring all such ideas forward forconsideration and planning. - Be a kind and collaborative team-mateand colleague. - Work effectively with regional and globalcolleagues across both Internal Control and the business lines. -Communicate effectively (oral and written) with stakeholders ofvarying seniority across the various regions/locations where GBMdoes business. Dimensions - Global coverage of the GBM businessline - GBM contributes ~20% to the total net income of the Scotiabank Group. - The incumbent is expected to maintain anin-depth knowledge of operational processes throughout theapplicable Business Lines and escalate issues promptly that aredeemed to be serious, or have broad impact. - The incumbent shouldbe able, on his/her own initiative, to resolve issues and alsorecognize the need to involve his/her supervisor/s and/or SubjectMatter Experts when required. Education / Experience / OtherInformation (include only those that are specific to the role) -University degree in business, finance, or other related field. -Knowledge of GBM products is an asset. - Experience withregulatory/risk related efforts is preferred. - Strong written andverbal communication skills, ability to guide decision makingprocess and facilitate consensus. - Proven problem solving skillsand experience. - Ability to effectively communicate with the Business Lines, Supervisors, and other stakeholders.
