Purpose Contribute to the overall success of the Asset Servicing ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. The incumbent will be responsible for a broad array of operational duties including, but not limited to, Trade Life Cycle support, trade administration, onboarding and enablement, compliance monitoring, reconciliation, and client services. The incumbent will also work closely with the Asset Servicing Management Team in the identification, initiation, research and development of process solutions across the Asset Servicing business lines, with the intent of improving overall operational efficiency/effectiveness while ensuring that compliance, risk and regulatory issues are adhered to. Accountabilities Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Ensures a high degree of customer service is provided by establishing and maintaining a high degree of entitlements processing accuracy, client inquiries are responded to in a prompt, professional manner and within the established SLA, participate in inter-department meetings to establish open lines of communication between front /mid and back office so problems can be quickly understood and addressed and act as subject matter expert in consultation with internal clients with respect to entitlements Champions a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team. Demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills capable of managing, leading, and coaching/training a team of employees. Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct Reporting Relationships Primary Manager: Director – Asset Servicing, Income Processing & Claims Shared Reports: N/A Dimensions Support all products across Banking/GCM globally Leadership, Coaching, and People Management skills The incumbent may be required to work independently or within a team Negotiation with stakeholders to complete tasks within given deadlines Speed and accuracy of support to the business Data accuracy and completeness Follow Scotia’s policies and procedures to mitigate risk Education / Experience / Other Information 10 years post-graduate experience in industry or academia in in the areas of capital markets, finance and banking and/or process improvement, business analysis and solution implementation Strong knowledge/experience in banking/capital markets operations Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to negotiate, influence and interact professionally with a diverse group of Front Office Users, QAs, Developers, and SMEs Professional courses required Expert knowledge on Income Processing, stock borrow loan transactions, fail trades and various market entitlements compensations (trade date vs settlement date market) Strong technical abilities including knowledge of basic software engineering principles (experience in SQL, VBA, Access, Excel preferred), and a sound understanding of operational processes. Result oriented, deadline driven, self-motivated. People management experience. Working Conditions Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours may be required depending on projects/initiatives in flight. No travel required.
