Contact us at Resume Your main role is to be Compassion’s primary financial liaison to the local church, responsible for working closely with internal and external clients across the organization to answer financial questions and provide advice on proper accounting. As the primary liaison, you are responsible for developing relationships with local Partnership Facilitators (PFs), the Church Facing Team (CFT), church partners, and denominational leaders, characterized by mutual respect, trust, and service that builds up church ministry. You are accountable for supporting partner relationships regarding financial and accounting matters; fostering a developmental mindset towards financial aspects of the partnership, including mobilizing staff and resources to support the church; and passing on financial and accounting knowledge and best practices. You will use your advanced knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and internal control environments, including the COSO Framework, to support, train, and equip local churches. You will work closely with PFs and CFTs, providing subject matter expertise as a supporting role. Responsibilities - Act as an advocate to raise awareness of the needs of children, understanding Christ’s mandate to protect children. Prioritize child protection in decision-making, tasks, and activities. Abide by Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Report any concerns of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of children through internal reporting processes and support responses to incidents. - Use independent judgment to serve internal customers, answering financial reporting questions, explaining accounting principles, advising on transaction recording, and informing others of financial policies and procedures. Collaborate in solving procedural and technical issues. - Serve as a subject matter expert on the organization’s financial general ledger system, including the chart of accounts, fund balances, and system attributes. - Maintain monthly and annual financial close processes through preparation and review of journal entries and reconciliations. Analyze financial activity for errors, correct as needed, and prepare/distribute financial reports to support decision-making. - Attend training to maintain knowledge and credentials necessary for the role. - Teach team members and internal clients about accounting concepts and organizational applications. - May coach or oversee junior accounting staff and coordinate tasks with team members as needed.
