We are Foolproof, a product design specialist working closely with Indigo Slate, a Seattle based Marketing powerhouse with deep expertise in marketing for technology brands. About the Role We are looking for a highly skilled Data Designer (to join our team and elevate the way we communicate data. In this role, you'll be at the intersection of data analysis, business intelligence, and visual storytelling, transforming raw data into intuitive, insightful, and impactful dashboards using Power BI. This is not just a technical role. We’re looking for someone who can think creatively, understand business context, and design visual experiences that drive understanding and action. Please provide your gross hourly rate in US Dollars. What You'll Do - Collaborate with stakeholders, and analysts to understand data requirements and business objectives. - Design and develop engaging, user-friendly dashboards and reports in Power BI, aligned with brand and UX standards. - Clean, transform, and model datasets using Power Query, DAX, and SQL where needed - Translate complex data into clear, concise, and compelling visual narratives. - Iterate designs based on user feedback and performance data. - Establish and promote best practices around data visualization, usability, and dashboard design. - Assist with data governance, performance tuning, and report optimization. What You Bring - 4+ years of experience in a data visualization, BI, or information design role. - Expert-level proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query (M), and report publishing/service features. - Strong understanding of data modeling, relational databases, and ETL processes. - A keen eye for design principles—layout, typography, hierarchy, color, and interactivity. - Ability to think critically about data accuracy, story flow, and stakeholder needs. - Experience working with cross-functional teams (product, design, analytics, business). - Bonus: experience with other tools like Tableau, Figma, or Adobe Illustrator. Nice to Have - Background in data journalism, UX/UI, or business analysis. - Experience designing for executive-level audiences or high-stakes decision-making. - Familiarity with accessibility best practices in data visualization. - Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, R) or APIs is a plus.
