General Job Description The IRC seeks a Health Assistant responsible for supporting the implementation of the health program in Nariño, based in Ipiales. Responsibilities Conduct monitoring visits to oversee program implementation with partners and providers. Schedule users for available health program appointments efficiently, according to the implementation modality. Maintain daily updated care schedules. Record user attendance at scheduled appointments. Refer and follow up with potential users to other IRC programs and external organizations. Complete internal and external referral forms and report weekly progress to supervisor. Perform community mobilization to reach communities, offering health services, informational sessions, and access routes. Support logistics for meetings, workshops, and community outings. Coordinate transportation and accommodation for users based on program criteria. Accompany arriving individuals from other cities during internal referral processes. Prepare purchase requests using IRC’s office tools, assist health officer with audits, payments, and supplier follow-up. Communicate assertively with local authorities and community leaders to promote IRC health programs. Maintain respectful and effective communication with colleagues, providers, and users. Support the program supervisor in routine monitoring and medical account audits. Comply with IRC SOPs related to financial processes and necessary procedures for program implementation (e.g., legalizations, direct purchases, etc.). Inventory medical supplies, medicines, and operational materials. Assist in identifying intervention zones, building relationships with community leaders, grassroots organizations, and civil society. Participate in community diagnostic processes in identified intervention areas. Support senior program officers in identifying needs of migrant, refugee, internally displaced, conflict-affected, ethnic, and host communities. Develop community awareness activities about IRC programs and interventions. Organize community activities and events aligned with IRC’s strategic framework. Assist in monitoring, evaluating, and tracking impacts and community changes to identify risks and negative effects of IRC interventions. Manage additional or complementary needs of beneficiaries by mapping available services and organizations. Periodically update the local actors’ mapping. Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor related to contractual objectives and program development. Minimum Qualifications Technical, technological, or university degree in nursing, public health, or health administration. At least 2 years of work experience in the health sector. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Preferred Experience and Skills Effective communication and teamwork skills. Understanding of humanitarian principles and programming supporting vulnerable populations. Willingness to work on Sexual and Reproductive Health topics, including access to Voluntary Interruption of Pregnancy (VIP). Strong organization skills, punctuality, composure, ability to prioritize under pressure, multitask, and attention to detail.
