This position is located in the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia (UNVMC), Training Unit, located in the Operations and Resource Management Section, Mission Support Division (duty station Bogota). The incumbent will report to the Head of the Training Unit. **Responsibilities**: The Training Assistant at the G-5 level assists the Training Unit and is responsible for the following duties: - In support of UNVMC mandate implementation, contributes to the design, development, organization, delivery and evaluation of learning and development Initiatives for field mission staff and personnel including, inter alia, coaching, mentoring, and training on technical and substantive matters, safety and security, induction, leadership and management, communication skills or planning, contributing to the inclusion of gender and differential sensitive approaches matters. - Provides logístical and administrative support in the organization of learning and development activities. - Contributes to the design of specific training programmes and learning initiatives to meet unique mission operational requirements and staff development needs, ensuring a gender-sensitive approach. - Co-coordinates with other mission staff including advisors on cross-cutting issues, staff counsellor and other UN system entities to organize specialized training programs and learning activities to ensure that cross-cutting issues are incorporated. - Contributes to the Training Unit external communications and to the development of systems and methods for disseminating information to mission personnel on training and development opportunities, including distance-learning, self-study, and other sources of learning, helping to the implementation of the UNVMC Gender Directive and Gender Parity Strategy. - Collects and maintains statistical data on learning activities and responds to queries and requests for information on training. - Contributes to the preparation and monitoring of budgetary allocations through regular reviews. - Drafts routine and ad hoc outputs, and collects, collates and maintains statistical data on learning and development activities to provide effective monitoring reports and data. - Helps to establish the means to monitor that all UNVMC policies are applied and followed thoroughly across all processes, including adherence to UNVMC code of conduct and ethics, and integrates a gender-sensitive approach in all functions. - Performs any other duties, as assigned. Education High school diploma or equivalent is required. Job - Specific Qualification Technical training in the design and delivery of training to adults or in the design and provision of adult learning activities is desirable. Work Experience A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of design, delivery or evaluation of training courses and related areas such as training needs assessment or planning of training programs is required. Working experience in a United Nations common system field operation (inclusive of peacekeeping or political missions, and UN agencies, funds and programs) - or similar international organization or non-governmental organization is desirable. Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English and Spanish is required.
