Reporting directly to our AVP LATAM, the Legal Director works independently under high-level direction, to identify legal risks and develop and implement legal strategy while equally providing intentional legal counsel. **Key Responsibilities**: - Reviews activity in Legal across regions and practice areas to identify and implement the low cost flexible sourcing and delivery solutions, consistent with the management of legal risk - Ensures that specialist and transactional services are delivered to benchmarked cost and service level agreements - Identifies and drives accountability with group functional strategy, policies and standards across the hybrid Legal organisation including US and ISMO - Delivers continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes - Participates in AZ-wide initiatives to reduce General & Administration (G&A;) costs, working alongside Global Compliance and Secretariat - Identifies and drives central initiatives to deliver Legal goals - Partners with other Senior Executive Teams (SET) areas and Global Functions to ensure effective delivery in Legal - includes Finance, HR, Procurement, IS, Communications - Manages non-core legal services and deployed resources - Identifies training needs in Legal, and crafts training programmes in substantive legal areas and in business mastery - Carries out functional reporting, including rolling business update (RBU), quarterly business review (QBR), Risk, Scorecard and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Board Report - Driving budget accountability including annual business update (ABU) and identification of budget savings - Member of Legal Senior Management Team (SMT) and Intellectual Property Leadership Team (IPLT) - Handling special projects assigned by the General Counsel **Essential Skills**: - Law degree / Professional legal qualification - Understanding of substantive areas of legal practice - Substantial experience working with legal department managing teams - Experience of working in a global legal environment - Strong Leadership Capabilities - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - Familiarity with Finance and Human Resources (HR) principles and concepts **Desirable skills**: - Understanding of the Pharmaceutical business and AZ products **Why AstraZeneca?** At AstraZeneca, we 're dedicated to being a Great Place to Work.
