Check out our TNC Talent playlist on YouTube on Glassdoor. **WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER**: The Protect Land & Water Specialist develops, manages, and advances conservation programs, plans and methods for large-scale geographic areas. S/he will be in charge of leading TNC’s support in the process of declaring the Serranía de Manacacías as a National Park, secure TNC’s partnership in Herencia Colombia - HECO, representing TNC in discussions within the framework of the National System of Protected Areas, as well as in the Regional Systems of Protected Areas that TNC has prioritized. In a broader sense, the Protect Land & Water Specialist will be responsible for working with Colombia Program science and other conservation specialists to design the Land and Water Protection strategy for TNC’s iconic places in Colombia (Orinoco Basin, Magdalena Basin, and Amazonia Basin). S/he will share wisdom and lessons learned as part of TNC’s Global Protection community and may also play a role with other key global protection priorities in Latin America. **WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU**: The Protect Land & Water Specialist provides technical leadership and support to the Colombia Program and to the Latin America Region by planning, directing, and implementing protected area land conservation programs and projects. S/he addresses critical threats to biodiversity assets, fosters cross-site learning among an international conservation community, and supplies conservation planning teams with site or landscape level information relevant to the planning process. S/he develops and implements conservation strategies, employs a full range of conservation tools to acquire varying degrees of land protection, and implements a variety of strategies to secure public and private support for TNC conservation priorities, as well as the permanent monitoring of conservation outcomes and impacts through the HUB of the Shared Conservation Agenda. - Coordinate TNC’s work regarding the land acquisition process and our engagement with our partners efforts such as the cadastral appraisal, - Working with team members, facilitate the due diligence process for land acquisition with resources from current and potential TNC donors, - Represent TNC as focal point in the relationship with the National Parks Agency, and Patrimonio Natural - Support the relationship with current and prospective donors, - Lead the coordination with TNC’s Great Plains Division team in the USA, - Contribute to the fundraising process for land acquisition, including acquisition process costs and management costs for the Park and its Buffer Area. - Lead the process securing TNC’s partnership in Herencia Colombia - HECO: - Participate in meetings and work sessions with the HECO partners, - Articulate and make TNC’s conservation actions known and visible, - Identify opportunities for building new alliances within the framework of the HECO initiative as well as with other partners. - Strengthen links with global TNC teams that are working on various financial mechanisms for the management of protected areas (eg: NatureVest, Global Protection Team, One Conservancy Protection Initiative - OCPI, among others) - Represent TNC in the National System of Protected Areas - SINAP and Regional Systems of Protected Areas - SIRAPs: - Participate in technical discussions and implementation of SINAP’s public policy, - Articulate and make TNC’s conservation actions known visible, - Participate and represent TNC in the SIRAP Orinoquia, - Articulate conservation actions of TNC in the Orinoquia, - Identify other Regional Systems of Protected Areas - SIRAP where TNC can be linked as a member, - Identify TNC’s work opportunities and alliances within the framework of prioritized SINAP / SIRAPs. - Design the Land and Water Protection strategy for Colombia. - With input from others, design a pro-active land and water protection strategy for Colombia that plays to TNC’s strengths and supports the work of our partners.
