**Location**: Colombia (virtual) Summary Description The Managed Services Consultant, provides consulting to Managed Services customers on how to effectively administer, maintain, troubleshoot and operate the Teradata platform and database environment, and Implement and operate all Teradata tools and utilities. This position requires being able to work leading a team and also working as a self sufficient professional. Assist with the management of workload and query performance, and utilize specialized Teradata tools such as Viewpoint Query Analyzer, and TASM tuning parameters as required to throttle workload and improve performance. Operational responsibilities include creating database objects such as users and tables, monitoring and managing user sessions, monitoring system and query performance and tuning poorly performing queries. The Managed Services Consultant also performs space management; data access management, administers security and access profiles, and performs backup and recovery operations. Key Responsibilities User Management Security Management Space Management Backup and Recovery Workload Management Performance Tuning& Performance Reporting Unix Shell and Batch Scripting System Performance monitoring using Teradata Viewpoint Teradata Administrator/SQL Assistant /TSET User, Objects and Security management as per Teradata Best practices. Backup and restore process using Veritas NetBackup(TARA)/ netvault/ Tivoli/ DSA Well conversant with various ticketing system/production change request/ Teradata Incident management. Exposure to MVC, Capacity planning and performance Management. Exposure to troubleshoot the FastLoad / Multiloading/ FastExport/ BTEQ/ TPT and should be good at error handling Exposure to TASM/TWIM Coordinate Software/Hardware Upgrade Activities Exposure to PDCR Reporting and Analysis System Administrator Tasks using Pack Disk, Scan Disk, Linux utilities, CRON Own incidents/problems escalated to the support team and be accountable for the execution of the resolution process Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or foreign equivalent, with a master’s degree in computer science or quality related disciplines desirable 3-6 + years experience administering databases in a large production environment either as DBA or performed as a Managed Service. (Ideally Teradata, but not mandatory) Spanish/English avanced level **Qualifications**: Excellent oral and written communication skills Advanced level skills related to workload analysis, characterization, tuning and performance management is required. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office components and personal computers (for generating the many reports required by the customer) Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience managing and resolving work requests and change requests Travel is generally not required as position is a long-term assignment in a specific location Ideal or preffered Qualifications Vantage Certified Associate / Administrator ITIL Foundation Certification System Performance tuning, including production and interpretation of PMCP/PDCR reports Experience with translating logical models to optimal physical models Knowledge of and experience with using Viewpoint to monitor and manage the Teradata Environment Ability to write efficient SQL & exposure to query tuning Provide on-call support after working hours Experience in an environment where ETL/BI tools such as Informatica, DataStage, Business Objects, SAS, and Microstrategy were an important part of the analytical ecosystem Experience with databases in a cloud environment (public or private)
