Job Description The University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) is seeking a Decontamination Technician I. This position reports to the Health Physics Supervisor and is responsible for decontaminating radioactive material areas within the facility. The role includes analyzing and preparing waste shipments from the facility. This position is part of an approved Career Progression Plan within Health Physics. Key Duties: Decontaminate radioactive labs and perform surveys to ensure areas are free from radioactive material. Transfer radioactive waste safely to prevent contamination spread. Prepare waste shipments by placing waste in proper containers and evaluating dose rates. Assist Health Physics Technicians in active job routines to contain contamination. Perform survey analysis of lab information. Inspect and evaluate storage/use areas for radioactive materials and re-evaluate routinely. Decontaminate clothing and uniforms from lab spaces. Work with Health Physics to determine supply needs and maintain adequate levels. Successful candidates will have excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills. They should demonstrate leadership, character, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, mindfulness, growth mindset, and fortitude. Customer service, confidentiality, integrity, and alignment with university values are essential. Reliable and consistent onsite work availability is required. Shift Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., variable hours to be discussed at interview. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and ability to lift 50 lbs.
