Job Description Summary: This is an on-site role requiring 100% travel across our residential portfolio in Richmond, Fairfax County, VA, Washington DC, Howard, and Baltimore County. The Compliance Specialist ensures adherence to all third-party regulations at assigned properties. The role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong knowledge of affordable housing regulations (especially LIHTC), and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with stakeholders to maintain compliance and proactively resolve issues. Duties and Responsibilities: Demonstrate HEROES principles: Helpful, Engaged, Responsive, Outstanding, Excellent, and Successful in all activities. Monitor resident compliance, address deficiencies, and manage non-compliance issues. Coordinate resident certifications, including notices, interviews, and documentation collection. Complete move-in, annual, interim, and initial certifications using Rent Cafe and Yardi Voyager. Maintain organized compliance files in accordance with regulations. Manage LIHTC resyndications and acquisitions, ensuring files are completed within 120 days of closing. Review certifications with third-party reviewers and ensure accurate submission to investors. Prepare and submit tracking reports as required. Strictly adhere to Fair Housing Act and other regulations, avoiding discrimination. Communicate with management about operational issues. Provide regular progress updates to stakeholders. Support additional tasks as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory duties. Experience, Education, and Qualifications: Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) or equivalent certification and experience. Tax Credit Specialist (TCS) certification or equivalent. At least 3 years of affordable housing property management experience with HUD Section 8 certifications. Ability to travel extensively, including overnight stays. Manage caseloads of 400+ files. Strong organizational and follow-up skills. High attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines. Proficiency in MS Office and property management software (preferably Yardi). High School Diploma or G.E.D. Reliable transportation. Total Rewards: Work with a passionate team dedicated to affordable housing.
