Monitor & Assurance Consultant | S2 | Legal & Regulatory | Milton Keynes Milton Keynes, United Kingdom **WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING** **Join our community.** The Compliance function has a key role in helping Santander UK plc to manage and minimise its exposure to conduct and regulatory risk. The role of the Compliance Monitoring Team is to help the business ensure that they protect the best interests of our customers, that they maintain a high level of integrity in complying with the requirements of the FCA or other regulators, whilst remaining commercial. The Compliance Monitoring Consultant is responsible for assessing and reporting on conduct and regulatory risks identified when carrying out the compliance monitoring programme and to advise on any necessary improvements that should be actioned in relevant business areas to raise the overall standards of compliance. The Compliance Monitoring Consultant will report directly to a Compliance Monitoring Manager. **The difference you’ll make.** - Executing all tasks set out in the written test plans, within the agreed timeframes. This will involve using monitoring and testing tools and techniques appropriately, carrying out on-site visits to areas of the business, reviewing MI and other ad-hoc information to focus on specific elements within the monitoring plan in various business units - Preparing draft and final reports in the agreed format, with the support of the Compliance Monitoring Manager, ensuring that internally agreed deadlines are met. When doing so, determine the cause of failure, define and recommend appropriate course of action, to be agreed with the risk owners. - Communicating findings verbally to stakeholders during de-briefing sessions, ensuring risk owners understand any issues identified. - Tracking and monitoring agreed actions arising from compliance monitoring reviews and supporting the Compliance Monitoring Manager in the provision of periodic status reports to the Head of Compliance Monitoring. - Maintain involvement with all aspects of the team’s work to ensure that effective support is provided to other team members when priorities change or at times of peak workload, share knowledge, skills and experience, and to ensure a consistent and co-ordinated approach. **What you’ll bring.** - Understanding of the financial services industry and regulatory environment, especially the regulator’s expectations for how we treat customers - Knowledge of the FCA handbooks and regulatory expectations **It would also be nice for you to have.** - Experience of working within a compliance monitoring, risk advisory or risk assurance function which involved identifying, assessing, managing and reporting of regulatory risks - Strong listening skills aligned with effective verbal and written presentation and report writing skills - Experience of challenging and influencing senior stakeholders, with the ability to initiate and maintain relationships with risk owners - Experience of following risk escalation protocols **What else you need to know.** This is a permanent position, and the location of this role is flexible. **How we’ll reward you.** As well as a salary, we offer a wide range of benefits that you can choose from and tailor to your needs. - Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus - Pension with generous contributions of up to 12.5% from Santander, depending on your own contribution and length of employment with us - 27 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, which increases to 28 days after 5yrs service, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year - Voluntary healthcare benefits at discounted rates.
