Job Summary Manages the accounting operations, controls, and analysis for LII, LMRe, and Surety in Latam in a deadline focused environment with ultimate responsibility for the efficiency and effectiveness of the work. Uses increasing vision to set scalable processes while maintaining a strong control environment for the accounting operations team. Assist FP&A and other stakeholders with queries/requests that require complex research and analysis of detailed accounting records. In charge of internal control activities, process improvements, and project management of ad hoc initiatives. Fosters the development of a high-performance team by setting objectives that challenge them while providing on-going coaching. Builds a culture of innovation to continuously improve processes to ensure work is performed in the fastest, most efficient means possible. Job Responsibilities Accounting Operations and Financial Analysis: Manages the month, quarter, and annual book close process and related deliverables for the Accounting Operations Department. Provides technical direction to the team in accordance with Group Policy and provides training/cross training to all staff members. Responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of accounting information due to Corporate and GRS teams. Support Global FP&A teams (LII, LMRe & Surety) with queries derived from the production of increasingly complex management reports and associated analysis, ensuring accuracy and relevance to the business. Uses increasing insight to set thoughtful direction for the team in supporting emerging business issues by thorough, relevant analysis, by driving effective scalable solutions, and managing resolution of accounting operational issues. Understands the interdependence of financial systems, prioritizing and implementing enhancements and planning appropriately for changes. Understand the results and performance at a legal entity level as well as management level and the interdependence between the two. Responsible for the preparation of accounting info requested by internal and external auditors. Internal Controls: Responsible for oversight of the reconciliation team. Ensuring that accounts reconciliation activities are performed timely and maintained in accordance with Corporate policy. Responsible for the effective operation of the key internal controls and provides oversight into implementing and enhancing internal financial controls. Ensure that all internal and external monitoring compliance activities are met. Collaborates with the Head of Reinsurance, Regulatory Reporting and Technical Policy function as needed. Process Improvements & Project Management: Build a culture of innovation to continuously improve processes to ensure work is performed in the fastest, most efficient means possible. Use increasing insight to identify and implement improvements that increase the business value and efficiency of the work performed. Initiates and/or leads increasingly complex projects and continuous improvement activities that may span beyond the scope of own team`s responsibilities Leadership Responsibilities: Fosters the development of the team by setting objectives that challenge them while providing on-going coaching. Delivers business results while building the team's capabilities by setting challenging objectives and coaching the team to achieve them. Has the vision to create employee development plans that build strengths needed for the current operation and for the future. Takes action to attract, engage, and advance the careers of people from all backgrounds and experiences. May recommend changes to the structure of the organization to address changes in the business or improve customer service. Preparation, Training and Experience: Bachelor's degree (Accounting or Finance). CPA or post-graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred. More than 10 years of progressive experience in Accounting Operations and Controls. Insurance industry experience is required. Big4 experience is a plus. Must demonstrate ability to execute thoroughly in a fast-paced work environment, adapting quickly to changing conditions to achieve results. Must possess the ability to collaborate with peers across the organization to gain support for ideas and execute projects that deliver value to customers. Comfortable leading meetings, making strategic recommendations to senior management and giving presentations to increasingly large audiences. Experience with Global ERP Systems. SAP is ideal. Advanced understanding of Finance Applications. High analytical skills are required. High Fluency (oral and written) in both English and Spanish, is required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
