Track Design Engineer Job Description \ We are looking for a skilled Track Design Engineer to join our team. As a Track Design Engineer, you will be responsible for providing track design engineering support for clients in the rail industry. You will oversee and implement conceptual planning of rail facilities and track connections for new and expanding rail users. \ Key responsibilities include: \ \ - Overseeing and managing rail-related design projects from planning to conceptual design \ - Collaborating with project stakeholders to develop site plans and marketing materials \ - Preparing preliminary cost estimates and adhering to freight rail engineering specifications \ - Coordinating design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers \ - Advising clients on rail facility design, including track geometry and capacity, safe rail car handling methods, and articulating rail-related operations \ - Reviewing schedules, cost variances, and assisting with developing recommendations for corrective action \ - Producing 2D concept plans and schematics and communicating rail design options to the project team \ - Producing 3D rail animations to visually represent rail operations and enhance communication with clients and decision-makers \ - Participating in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, and scheduling performance \ - Coordinating the design and management of projects involving transportation in railroad and rail transit facilities and property \ - Investigating software packages and utilizing cutting-edge technology to improve project outcomes \ - Mentoring junior staff members within the team \ - Assisting with other duties as required \ - Working effectively in a fast-paced environment and meeting deadlines \ - Developing and maintaining relationships with clients and stakeholders \ - Staying up-to-date with industry trends and developments \ - Providing expert advice and guidance to clients on rail design and infrastructure development \ - Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards \ Required Skills and Qualifications \ To be successful in this role, you will need: \ \ - Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as civil engineering or transportation planning \ - 10+ years of experience in transportation/transit planning and environmental documentation \ - Proficiency in MicroStation/Geopak or AutoCAD/Civil 3D design software \ - Experience with 3-D rendering and animation tools, such as 3DS Max or Blender \ - Knowledge of GIS ArcPro and graphic design principles \ - Excellent written and verbal communication skills \ - Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders \ - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills \ - Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment \ - Valid driver's license and clean driving record \ Benefits \ We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including: \ \ - Health insurance \ - Retirement plan \ - Paid time off \ - Opportunities for professional development and growth \ - Flexible work arrangements and remote work options \ - A collaborative and supportive work environment \ Other Information \ This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the success of our organization.
