Our client is a fast-growing, venture-backed direct-to-consumer (DTC) brand in the intimate industry, seeking a Senior Merchandise Planner to drive the merchandise planning process from pre-season strategy to in-season management. This role will focus on sales forecasting, inventory optimization, and margin planning to support the company’s rapid growth. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive, using data-driven insights to drive key merchandising decisions. Location: Fully-Remote (Work from Home), 9 AM - 5 PM PST Role Overview: The Senior Merchandise Planner will be responsible for developing and executing merchandise planning strategies that align with sales, inventory, and margin goals. The role involves regular performance analysis, scenario planning, and working closely with cross-functional teams to optimize inventory and support business growth. Key Responsibilities: Merchandise Planning & Forecasting: Develop pre-season top-down and bottom-up assortment plans for sales, inventory, and margins down to the style/choice level. Inventory & Sales Analysis: Manage Open-to-Buy (OTB) and in-season merchandise planning, ensuring inventory levels align with business needs. Performance Monitoring: Regularly analyze product performance, identifying growth drivers and risk areas, and making real-time adjustments to maximize sales. Scenario Planning & Trade-offs: Conduct detailed scenario planning and risk assessments to optimize product assortments, markdown strategies, and pricing adjustments. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Merchandising, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to drive assortment optimization, test new product launches, and execute exit strategies. Financial Reporting & Strategy: Provide actionable financial insights and reports to support business strategy and drive profitability. System & Data Management: Maintain and leverage inventory planning software (Singuli) to track and analyze sales trends and inventory flow. What Success Looks Like: Optimized Inventory Management: Efficient inventory planning that maintains target turns and minimizes overstock/stockouts. Data-Driven Decision Making: Strong ability to forecast sales trends and optimize merchandise performance using data analysis. Revenue Growth & Margin Maximization: Delivering strategic insights that lead to increased revenue and improved profit margins. Seamless Collaboration: Effective coordination with cross-functional teams to align merchandising, planning, and supply chain strategies. Qualifications: Experience: 5-7+ years of merchandise planning experience, ideally within DTC eCommerce or multi-channel retail. Proven expertise in Open-to-Buy (OTB) management and the retail sales and inventory lifecycle. Skills: Advanced Excel skills, with experience building and analyzing dynamic reports. Strong proficiency in inventory planning software (Singuli preferred). Ability to analyze large datasets and synthesize insights for business decisions. Excellent English communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience influencing stakeholders at all levels.
