The IT Asset Management Technician must be able to work independently as well as with a team. Must have the ability to work in a high growth, dynamic working environment. The IT Asset Management Technician will support ongoing asset management efforts and will be responsible for maintaining and consistently updating the IT inventory organization-wide. This person must understand the concept and need for asset management and will contribute to an overall process working with multiple teams to maintain hardware inventory, enabling the department to reduce hardware costs. This person will also be responsible for tracking software and license agreements, notifying the appropriate person or team as licenses are due, and working with the accounting team for payment updates and reminders. Position Responsibilities: Compile planned inventory and connectivity reports as well as other asset reports and records. Utilize record-keeping and reporting processes to identify existing assets. Conduct regular audits of maintenance/asset management processes. Request asset numbers for newly purchased assets and track and report on the progress of labeling and tagging assets. Order equipment, including hardware and software licenses, and obtain support from vendors as needed. Manage hardware, software, and vendor lifecycle, including renewals, upgrades, discount programs, etc. Audit equipment/license usage, including periodic inventory exercises and “true ups.” Facilitate smooth process flows (e.g., new user setup) through standard, documented processes, and automated workflows. Create and maintain documentation of all IT Asset Management processes. Perform other duties within the Asset Management roles. Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong written and verbal communication skills with a focus on providing clear and concise instructions and documentation for areas of assigned responsibility. Previous experience working with vendors on ordering and creating standardized fulfillment processes. Asset management experience, including refresh cycles and inventory management. Ability to analyze trends and make data-driven recommendations regarding equipment/license usage trends and future needs. Knowledge of and experience with asset management tools. Previous knowledge of Asset Explorer is a plus. Minimum Qualifications: Exceptional customer service skills in person, over the phone, and through electronic communication. Ability to triage and troubleshoot unfamiliar issues within Asset Management. Willingness to learn new technologies. Associate degree (A.A.) in a relevant technical field from a two-year college or university; or 1 year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient with Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel and Word. Experience with Office 365 is a plus. Must be able to frequently sit, stand, or bend for long periods of time and must also be able to lift 40 pounds and push/pull carts when necessary.
