F. SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Chief Representative Officer (CRO) leads and executes INTA's regional strategy in Latin America and the Caribbean, ensuring alignment with the Association's global priorities. The CRO is responsible for strengthening INTA's visibility, influence, and member engagement across the region by building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including government institutions, IP offices, local associations, and the private sector. The CRO also contributes to INTA's global strategic plan, supports membership development, and coordinates the delivery of educational programs. G. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: External Relations and Advocacy - Develop and implement the annual regional work plan in coordination with INTA headquarters. - Provide timely analysis and strategic recommendations on legislative and regulatory developments relevant to IP and brand owners in the region. - Represent INTA in meetings with government agencies, IP offices, and regional organizations; maintain strong relationships with policymakers and decision-makers. - Collaborate with internal teams and committees to develop and execute advocacy strategies. - Serve as INTA's spokesperson in regional forums and conferences; deliver presentations and participate in panels. - Liaise with local and regional organizations that share INTA's goals, fostering collaboration and information sharing. - Prepare reports and updates for INTA's leadership and governance bodies. - Serve as staff liaison in the committees and subcommittees where necessary. Membership - Collaborate with INTA's Membership team to support regional recruitment and retention efforts. - Identify and engage prospective members, particularly from the corporate sector. - Design and implement initiatives to improve member engagement and experience, including training on INTA's tools and platforms. - Promote INTA's value proposition through outreach activities and strategic relationship-building. Marketing and Communications - Support headquarters in the implementation of INTA's communications and marketing plans across the region. - Build and maintain relationships with media outlets to enhance INTA's visibility and reputation. - Assist in developing and localizing content that promotes INTA's activities and advocacy priorities. Educational Programming In relation to the relevant staff at New York Headquarters: - Provide input on the development and organization of educational events in the region. - Support content planning, speaker selection, and event logistics in coordination with INTA's Education and Events team. - Represent INTA at educational forums and contribute to thought leadership initiatives. Office management and Administration - Oversee the daily operations of the Latin America Regional Office, including managing staff and consultants. - Ensure high performance standards related to timeliness, quality, and alignment with INTA's strategic goals. - Contribute to the selection of regional representatives for INTA committees and subcommittees. - Perform additional duties as requested by the CEO or CPO. CANDIDATE PROFILE: Education and Experience - Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in intellectual property, government affairs, or association management—preferably within Latin America and the Caribbean. - Proven experience in developing and managing strategic programs and regional operations. - Track record of representing organizations in public forums and working with governmental or international institutions. Skills and Competencies - Fluency in English and Spanish (oral and written) is required; Portuguese proficiency is highly desirable. - Strong understanding of regional political and legal systems, particularly in relation to IP. - Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and cross-cultural communication skills. - Demonstrated leadership, team building, and project management capabilities. - Public speaking and media engagement experience. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). - High degree of independence, with the ability to design, manage, and deliver multiple projects simultaneously.
