**Associate Fellow - PTFI** **The Organization** The Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) delivers research-based solutions that harness agricultural biodiversity and sustainably transform food systems to improve people’s lives. Alliance solutions address the global crises of malnutrition, climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental degradation. The Alliance is part of CGIAR, a global research partnership for a food-secure future. The **Periodic Table of Food Initiative **(PTFI) is an enabling platform that aims to catalogue chemical diversity (nutritional dark matter) of foods and its functions using omics technologies. PTFI takes a global multi - sectoral collaborative approach informed by the scientific, academic, health, agricultural, food, and entrepreneurial sectors. By democratizing technical platform and the reference database, PTFI will catalyze acceleration in research and innovation in human health, agriculture, and environment. Established and funded by the Rockefeller Foundation, PTFI also receives funding from the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) and Seerave Foundation. A coalition of the American Heart Association (AHA) and the Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) serve as the permanent Secretariat of the PTFI. **About the position**: The overall responsibility of the **Associate Fellow - PTFI **to facilitate and support sample procurement from around the world for PTFI analysis. He/she will interact with stakeholders from around the world, making sure that samples for analysis are procured using established procedures and policies with adherence to country regulations. **Key Responsibilities**: - Facilitate the prioritization of the foods for sampling and analysis - Develop strategy for procurement of each food (including sampling site and portion of food to be sampled; determine if sampling germplasm is appropriate/feasible for each food type) - Coordinate and train samplers for procurement and shipping of foods from different sampling sites in collaboration with Genebanks and Analytical Sample Processing Center personnel - Assign a unique sample ID# (generated by the sample tracking database maintained by the Analytical Sample Processing Center) that will link analytical samples, germplasm samples, metadata, and generated analytical data - Navigate legal and political regulations and compliance associated with food sample procurement (e.g., SMTAs and revised MTAs) tracking use throughout sample lifetime. This includes assisting Genebanks with acquisition of phytosanitary or other import permits for sample procurement and transport across international borders - Support in the establishment of guiding principles of data ownership, with consideration for source - country policies and regulations - Coordinate requests for access to samples from researchers and other end users **Qualifications and requirements**: - Chemist professional career - Masters (MSc). In Food Sceince, Nutrition or related fields with 2 years of experience - Fluency in English (both speaking and writing) is required** **Terms of employment**: This is a Colombian national search and will be managed through a fixed term contract of a one (1) year period, of resources.
