This position is located in the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia, duty station: Bogota. The incumbent will report to the Chief of Mission Support (CMS), and is responsible for the overall management of the Training Unit. **Responsibilities**: - Leads organizational development initiatives to support mission mandate implementation; - Works closely with mission components to establish staff development strategies, based on mission mandate; - Whenever requested, takes the lead in streamlining mission processes, including the identification of performance gaps and related learning solutions; - Provides support to Subject Matter Experts in the development and design of learning activities; - Provides leadership and managerial guidance to mission managers and supervisors; - Collaborates with senior mission leaders in identifying mission-specific individual or collective training requirements and ensuring that a comprehensive Mission Training Plan is developed, has the appropriate resources allocated, and is implemented; - Coordinates with UNHQ on priority strategic and job-specific and technical training priorities, aiming to minimize duplication; - Ensures that the Mission Training Plan is prepared in conjunction with other mission planning documents including the Mission Concept and the Results-Based Budget (RBB); - Coordinates the preparation and implementation of the mission training budget, ensuring that resources are allocated appropriately so that training is cost-effective and has the maximum operational impact; - Monitors the implementation of the Mission Training Plan and regularly updates the Senior Mission Management on implementation and constraints; - Ensures the periodic evaluation of mission-conducted training; - Manages the performance of members of the Training Unit, including the identification of development opportunities; - Performs other duties as required. Education Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent), preferably in training and development, management, public or business administration, or a related area such as education or social science. A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) years qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Work Experience A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in learning and development, adult learning, training or a related area is required. At least 3 (three) years supervisory experience required. Experience working in a multicultural and/or international work environment and a field mission or post-conflict environment outside of your home country is required. Experience in a United Nations peacekeeping mission, Special Political Mission or similar operation is desirable. Languages English and French are the working Languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English and Spanish (oral and written) is required. Assessment Special Notice Special Notice - While this temporary assignment may provide the successful applicant with an opportunity to gain new work experience, the selection for this position is for a limited period and has no bearing on the future incumbency of the post. - Retirees above the mandatory age of separation who wish to be considered for the current temporary job opening must indicate the reason for their last separation as "retirement."
