What This Role Looks Like (Job Overview) As a Fire Protection Engineer , you’ll be responsible for creating shop drawings and sprinkler system layouts using AutoCAD and AutoSprink , coordinating with contractors and engineers to ensure systems are code-compliant and construction-ready. You’ll spend most of your time drafting and resolving coordination issues, with opportunities to apply or grow your hydraulic analysis skills. This is a great fit for someone who’s detail-oriented, works independently, and communicates clearly in English. Schedule: Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (NY time), 40 hours/week with 1-hour lunch Paid Time Off: Enjoy Colombia’s 18 national holidays, with the flexibility to organize them in the way that works best for you Support throughout the process: From your application to your first day — and beyond Ongoing training: Keep growing through access to tools, software, and new technologies in the fire protection field What You’ll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities) Design and draft fire sprinkler systems using AutoCAD and AutoSprink Produce detailed shop drawings, coordination plans, and as-builts Collaborate with architects, contractors, and engineers to resolve design conflicts Assist with hydraulic calculations and review of existing system data Generate pre-fab plans and material lists to support field installation Ensure compliance with NFPA 13/14, IBC, and project specifications Support coordination meetings and participate in project reviews Maintain organized documentation for internal use and reference What You’ll Bring (Educational Background & Experience) Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Civil, or Fire Protection Engineering (or related field) 3–5 years of experience designing sprinkler systems for commercial or residential buildings Familiar with NFPA 13, NFPA 14, and relevant fire codes Experience in drafting sprinkler shop drawings and coordinating with MEP teams Bonus: Knowledge of sprinkler hydraulics and tools like Elite Fire or SprinkCad Tools You’ll Use (Technical Skills) AutoCAD (Required): Drafting and shop drawings AutoSprink: Sprinkler-specific design and routing — prior experience is a plus, but training will be provided Elite Fire / SprinkCad / HydraCAD: For hydraulic analysis ( optional but a strong plus ) Microsoft Excel: For basic calculations and documentation Navisworks / Revit: Used occasionally for clash detection and coordination Interpersonal and Professional Strengths (Soft Skills) Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy Organized and analytical; able to manage tasks across multiple projects Proactive problem-solver who can troubleshoot design issues Able to work independently with minimal supervision in a remote setting ___ What to Expect from the Hiring Process: 15min Intro Call – A quick, friendly chat to get to know you.
