Hiring Department The Department of University Physicians Job Description This Medical Coding Specialist position is a dual post linked to Job ID 54697. The department will be hiring for seven positions. Final or offered title will be determined by the qualifications of the final candidates. Responsibilities include reviewing complex clinical documentation and diagnostic results to accurately assign codes for diagnoses (ICD-10-CM), procedures (CPT), and applicable modifiers to ensure maximum reimbursement and regulatory compliance. The role also involves auditing medical records to identify potential issues with coding and reimbursement, acting as a liaison with third-party payers, assisting faculty and staff with documentation and coding standards, and providing training on billing, regulations, and coding standards. Compliance with organization policies and remote working options are available. Shift Type: Monday - Friday; No fixed office hours; Flexibility for alternative schedules. Minimum Qualifications Completion of a coding certification program or equivalent training with certification in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4. One year of related medical records coding experience or equivalent training. Certification within one year in one of the following: CCA, CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CPC/CPC-A, COC/COC-A, CIC/CIC-A, or grandfathered staff. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or related background, CPC or CCS-P certification preferred.
