Profile: The Security System Technician is responsible for turnkey installations (installing, wiring, programming, and testing) of various security/access and other low voltage electronic systems. Responsibilities: Communicate daily with the project manager to resolve problems and discuss job status. Build a team effort. Maintain accurate as-built drawings and schematics. Complete associated paperwork efficiently per company requirements. Perform troubleshooting and service work. Terminate devices and panel wiring. Program panels and systems for proper operation according to plans, specifications, and code requirements. Manage truck inventory control. Communicate effectively with ARK team members to pursue company goals and standards for alarm system installation. Inform customers about the importance, operation, and status of their security and electronic systems, ensuring customer satisfaction. Conduct quality assurance. Install system wiring as applicable. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills and Abilities Required: Aptitude to learn and apply new programming techniques and software to site-specific systems. Knowledge of alarm system requirements and ability to interpret code books and handbooks. Customer relations experience and skills. Practical field electronic experience. Good communication skills. Ability to conduct quality assurance on all work efforts. Positive and respectful attitude, maintaining good relationships with management and colleagues. Education and Experience: Computer literacy and system-specific training required. An AA degree in electronics or equivalent technical/military training, supplemented with 3-5 years of related industry experience, preferred but not required. Experience with communications equipment, drills, and other hand tools. Ability to operate a laptop. Familiarity with MS Office, system software, etc. Valid driver’s license. Ability to obtain Maryland and Virginia security technician licenses as required, sponsored by ARK. Physical Requirements: Ability to climb overhead or crawl under spaces to complete jobs. Willingness to work at heights. Ability to operate electrical tools. Ability to differentiate color coding of cables. Capability to lift up to 30 pounds.
