We have the ability to support the entire life cycle of these programs and projects—from security analyses, engineering and design, through installation, operation and maintenance.CFS is seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting to sit onsite in the Columbia, MD office.The Director of Finance & Accounting plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and accurate overall leadership and management of the finance and accounting department. In this role you must possess strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. This job requires a person who remains professional, organized, collaborative, task, and detail oriented, timely, and thorough.Responsibilities:Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, billing and collections, and general ledger. Streamline processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company's goals and objectives. Collaborate with senior leadership to create long-term financial plans, budgets, and forecasts to guide business growth and profitability.Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and variance analysis. Provide senior management with clear and concise financial insights to support decision-making.Conduct comprehensive financial analyses to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Present actionable recommendations to optimize operational efficiency, revenue generation, and cost management.Evaluate financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Implement robust internal controls, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.Manage and mentor the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Delegate tasks effectively, provide guidance, and facilitate professional development.Identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function to improve financial processes, data analysis, and reporting. Leverage technology to streamline accounting processes and improve the accuracy of financial reporting.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership, parent company finance and accounting leads, auditors, vendors, and regulatory bodies. Build strong relationships to ensure financial goals are met and compliance is maintained.Other Duties as assigned within reason of previously listed duties.Minimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional certification highly desirable.Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in financial management, with at least 10 years in a leadership role.Strong understanding of federal contracting and government financial regulations such as CAS and GAAP is required.Experience with DCMA / DCAA requirements and preparing, reviewing, and/or approving applicable documentation.Demonstrated experience in strategic financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.Proficiency in the Deltek Costpoint System is a must.Experience in GSA contract execution, percent of completion revenue recognition, and the various federal invoicing processes.Exceptional leadership skills with a proven ability to mentor and develop a finance team.Excellent communication and presentation abilities, both written and verbal.High level of integrity, ethics, and accountability.Independent, likes variety in people and tasks, works with and in the frames of the books, rules, structure, and a sense of urgency to stay on track and get things done on time and with 100% accuracy.Physical Requirements:The job may require lifting objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
