As the **Senior Manager - DevOps** you will Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering teams as well as the management and execution of site/software development projects against delivery commitments and project plans. **Responsibilities**: - Possess outstanding leadership skills, having an ability to move a cross-functional group in a unified direction and with a common vision. - You will also be a likable and relatable individual who is able to make meaningful and lasting connections with others. Whilst being able to inspire confidence in others, making it easy for them to trust in insights, directives, and judgments. - Oversee the management of the department’s staffing, resources, and mentoring, and maintaining a best-in-class engineering department. - Work with senior engineering management in ensuring that systems meet the overall business requirements and standards. - Report on status of site/software development, operations, quality, and system performance to senior leadership. - Provide relevant and suitable technology based on the projected benefits - Responsible for owning the front to back architecture and design of complex solution components (e.g., integration, security, custom development) - Stay abreast of leading and cutting-edge technologies and industry best practices. - Responsible for ensuring that the system accurately meets the defined expectations of the business, ensuring that proper testing is implemented, and performance and security requirements are closely monitored by working with the project teams. **Skills and Experience Required** - Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, ability to build rapport across the organisation - Ability to work across vendor relationships to ensure the companies goals are being achieved - Demonstrate strong leadership skills in all stages of the software development life cycle. - Own reviewing design elements and signing off on the overall technical design. - Identify and confirm technical design risks and develop mitigating approaches. - Experience providing level of effort estimates for technical portion of solutions. - Hands on experience in designing and developing software components specifically e-commerce platforms (b2b/b2c) - Management of End to end implementation experience with open-source frameworks for both front end and back end - Owning and delivering complex cloud-based solutions using technologies such as React.js, PHP (Symfony), SQL, Elastic Search, RabbitMQ, Redis and so on. - Experience with the development technologies below would be advantageous: - Front end - JavaScript frameworks - React. - Back end - PHP (Symfony, Laravel) - GraphQL - Testing frameworks - PHPunit, Codeception - Data layer - SQL - NoSQL - Infrastructure - Terraform (Kubernetes) **Style and Culture Fit** - They will invest time developing a deep knowledge and understanding of the business and its commercial drivers, being fully committed to delivering the best business outcomes; practical, pragmatic and ‘down to earth’ in their approach; - They will work collaboratively at all times with the wider DDC team in actively seeking and responding to business input; engaging all key stakeholders; - They will ‘think out of the box’ - continually improving the business processes - Flexible and adaptable; the individual will thrive in a changing environment, readily deal with ambiguity, cope with setbacks and always seek solutions (rather than problems); and - The individual will demonstrate a genuine interest in others; with a focus on their development and role clarity.
