Job Description The Food Technician for Sourcing is responsible for ensuring that products have the highest standards of quality and comply with all local, national, and international regulations. This role focuses specifically on the quality of fruits and vegetables sourced by Walmart's Sourcing Office. The Food Technician will also be responsible for monitoring vendor certification and standards. Key Responsibilities Product Specification: Create product quality specification files for product specification approval. Quality Assurance: Ensure all sourced fruits and vegetables meet Walmart's quality standards. Regulatory Compliance: Verify that all products comply with local, national, and international regulations. Vendor Certification: Monitor and verify vendor certifications to ensure compliance with Walmart's standards. Facility Registration: Ensure packing facilities and shipping locations are properly registered. Inspection and Testing: Conduct regular inspections and testing of products to maintain quality assurance. Pre-Production and Production Testing: Perform pre-production and production testing and product packaging inspections. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of quality assessments and certifications. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with company regulatory and food safety certifications and standards. Training: Provide training to all stakeholders on company quality and food safety standards and programs to ensure business goals are aligned with stakeholder business goals. Market Intelligence: Understand company competitors and gather crop and market intelligence on local sourcing activities through contact with vendors, industry representatives, or analytics partners. Communication: Ensure optimal communication to Sourcing on any vendor or product quality or food safety-related issues through clear and concise reports. Continuous Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements to sourcing processes to enhance product quality and efficiency. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in food science, Agriculture, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in food quality assurance, preferably with fruits and vegetables. Knowledge: Strong understanding of food safety regulations and standards. Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred Qualifications Certifications: HACCP, SQF, or other relevant food safety certifications. Experience: Previous experience in a retail or large-scale sourcing environment.
