Contributes to the overall success of the development of data assets/data models serving International Banking Analytics. The Specialist for Data Engineering will be responsible for using established templates for collecting, managing, and converting raw data into information via data pipelines and databases to be consumed for business intelligence and advanced analytics applications. Ensures all activities conducted are following governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. Accountabilities Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge. Participates in data engineering and transformation design to ensure highly scalable, extensible, and performant solutions. Collaborates in the coordination of the International Banking data engineering community; supporting training and onboarding of new users, and supports the implementation of data assets across international teams. Hands-on development supporting data integration, analytics, and for on-premises and cloud environments, to generate scalable data assets across Scotiabank international markets. Functions as a member of an agile team and helps drive consistent development practices, tools usage, common components, and patterns. Collaborates and supports analytic teams to proactively build and improve existing operating models, increasing reliability and stability of data platforms for end users in accordance with established engineering practices and automation. Contributes to data delivery for highly visible and critical projects across the bank. Knowledge with Spark, SQL, Docker, Airflow, Git, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code. Works in collaboration with BI teams, with proficiency in PowerBI and in setting up data pipelines to PowerBI. Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or related field or relevant experience. Cloud computing knowledge, Data Quality and Governance is a plus. Knowledge with SQL, Git, Docker, Airflow, infrastructure-as-code, Spark (nice to have). Assets Experience with Big Data and Cloud Technologies. Experience with GitHub, JIRA, Confluence. Experience working in Retail/Risk Banking Domain is an asset. Experience working in an Agile team environment. Knowledge of MS Power BI (Data consumption). Working Conditions Work in a hybrid model of remote and office-based environment.
