3 weeks ago Be among the first 25 applicants The Senior Underwriter is the primary credit risk manager for a portfolio of clients and is an instrumental member of the Portfolio Management team. In this capacity, the Senior Underwriter works in partnership with coverage banking, treasury services, syndications, and other product partners to analyze and approve credit requests, structure credit facilities, risk grade borrowers, and review credit agreements and other loan documentation. The Senior Underwriter is also responsible for on-going monitoring and risk management of his/her portfolio. To be successful, this individual needs to develop a broad and deep understanding of the business, financial, competitive, and industry risks faced by clients in the assigned portfolio. Clients are in Latin America; thus, travel may be required from time to time. Major Responsibilities: Identify and evaluate the key risk factors associated with clients, transactions, and industry asset classes across an assigned portfolio Develop and articulate a dynamic, forward-looking risk assessment of client companies, transactions, competitive threats for the industry and other factors Attend client, bank, and other meetings to develop a better understanding of client companies, management teams, and industry sector Use financial models to incorporate the impact of forward-looking risk assessment on key value drivers Develop and recommend appropriate credit structures related to risk assessment 2. Credit Approval Process Ensure all credit risk and other policies are followed, and credit exposures are approved at the appropriate level Prepare credit approval materials, and present and recommend credits for approval at appropriate level Analyze and negotiate covenants and other terms and conditions as part of a deal team Review and negotiate legal documentation to ensure terms are appropriate and consistent with credit approval Provide a well-researched and thoughtful risk assessment of each assigned client on an ongoing basis Ensure risk ratings are accurate and reflect a current forward-looking view of the client Review risk ratings periodically in accordance with MUFG’s policy Provide early identification and proactive management of deteriorating credits and other problem situations Analyze, prepare, and present for approval all required waivers, amendments, and extensions Prepare and present annual portfolio review material Work with internal or external credit reviewers to validate credit quality and integrity of the credit process Desire experience for the position: 8-10 years of banking experience in Risk Management and Credit. Requirements and skills: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or related fields. Knowledge of bank products and services. Significant experience with Credit Products Ability to develop strong customer and colleague relationships. Interpersonal, analytical, and writing skills. Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills Organization and time management skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. High level of English is required.
