Job summary We are looking for an accomplished Senior Civil or Structural Engineer to oversee and perform quality control for engineering deliverables related to major infrastructure rehabilitation projects, including bridge bearing design and industrial facility scopes. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred). - Professional Engineer (PE) license required. - 20+ years of experience in civil or structural engineering with a focus on infrastructure or industrial facility projects. - Demonstrated experience in quality control, engineering supervision, or technical review roles. - In-depth knowledge of bridge bearing systems, reinforced concrete foundations, and steel girder structures. - Strong command of engineering codes and tools such as AASHTO LRFD, AutoCAD, Bentley OpenBridge Designer, and related CAD platforms. - Proven track record in bridge rehabilitation, public infrastructure, or industrial greenfield/brownfield development. Responsibilities - Serve as quality control lead and technical reviewer for bridge rehabilitation designs, focusing on bearing design and detailing tasks. - Provide senior-level supervision and validation of engineer and CAD team work related to: - Replacement of elastomeric and fixed bearings - Integration of new steel laminated elastomeric bearings - Pedestal fit and reconstruction feasibility - Bearing schematic removal and final detailing - Review technical submissions and plans to ensure alignment with: - AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications - CTDOT and FHWA design standards - CTDOT's Digital Design Environment (DDE) using Bentley OpenBridge/OpenRoads - Validate load and rotation inputs, bearing layouts, bolsters, sole plates, and structural connections. - Ensure that design documentation is accurate, complete, and ready for submission to client and regulatory agencies. - Coordinate with internal engineering teams, consultants, and project stakeholders to resolve technical discrepancies and ensure performance outcomes. - Provide coaching and oversight to design staff, supporting knowledge transfer and adherence to best practices.
