Work Location - Chaparral and/or Ibague, Tolima Department, Colombia - Expected duration - May to August 2025**Responsibilities**: - The intern will support the local team in Chaparral with the verification of the implementation of the PDET in the southern Tolima region—specifically the municipalities of Ataco, Chaparral, Planadas and Rioblanco. Tasks will include: - Compiling and organizing data of all PDET projects and initiatives in the south of Tolima—including budget, funding source, status of implementation, and timeline for completion. - Preparing graphs, maps, charts and other visual representations of the data (e.g. dashboard) to communicate trends and key findings in PDET implementation. - Preparing meetings and focus groups with PDET stakeholders of projects, including beneficiaries, technical working groups (mesas técnicas), local leaders, government, implementing agencies and others to discuss progress of specific projects and initiatives as well as perceptions of the PDET process in general. - Visiting PDET projects in the field with the UNVMC team to verify implementation. - Monitoring local news and social media accounts for information on progress, completion and/or challenges with implementation of PDET projects in the four municipalities. - Preparing periodic (bi-weekly) updates on findings as well as a comprehensive final report on the status of implementation of the PDET in the south of Tolima. Within the UNVMC’s mandate to verify comprehensive rural reform, the Mission also verifies the implementation of Development Plans with a Territorial Focus (Programas de Desarrollo con Enfoque Territorial, or PDET for its initialism in Spanish) in various subregions of the country. The objectives of the PDET are to promote economic, social and environmental development in areas of the country that were most affected by the armed conflict. The PDET are composed of eight pillars including: social ordering of rural property and land use; infrastructure and land adaptation; rural health; rural education and early childhood; rural housing, potable water and sanitation; economic regeneration and agricultural production; a system for the progressive guarantees to the right to food; and reconciliation, coexistence, and peacebuilding. The intern will support the local team in Chaparral with the verification of the implementation of the PDET in the southern Tolima region—specifically the municipalities of Ataco, Chaparral, Planadas and Rioblanco. - Qualifications/special skills - Languages - English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
