As a DBA, you will be working on the latest Opensource technologies in the industry. This position is based out of our global delivery centers in Bogota in Columbia. This role requires excellent technical DBA skills, but also requires and develops leadership and managerial skills. Datavail is one of the largest data-focused services company in North America and provides both professional and managed services and expertise in Database Management, Application Development and Management, Cloud & Infrastructure Management, Packaged Applications and BI/Analytics. **Required Skills**: - 9+ years overall IT experience, with 6+ years on MySQL and MariaDB Product Suite. 3+ years of experience working in a global environment - Extensive experience in MySQL 5.6/5.7/8.0 and MariaDB 10.3/10.4/10.5/10.6 both on-premises and Cloud - Has supported large enterprise environments with complex datasets - Worked in Clustered architecture like InnoDB cluster, Galera Cluster,etc. - Experience in MySQL and MariaDB Backup, Restores - Experience in Advanced Monitoring Solutions - Experience in Database migrations to the cloud - Experienced in Advanced HA Replication solutions with MySQL, MariaDB and Percona. - Experienced in RDS and Aurora MySQL support - Experience in Performance tuning in opensource databases - Database Security best practice implementations - Experience in Heterogenous migrations to MySQL/MariaDB - Experienced in Installation, Configuration and Administration of MySQL and MariaDB on Linux and Windows - Experienced in AWS, Azure,GCP and/or any cloud environment - Experience in data modeling, schema design and optimization - Planning and architecting database solutions - 24 X 7 production support experience - Knowledge of Linux and Windows Servers - Clear Communication General Experience in the following other areas is required: - Worked in customer services environments or in Managed Service Providers/Professional Services Providers - Extensive experience with installation, management, upgrades, backup and restore of large MySQL and MariaDB database system installations - Experience benchmarking, clustering, and tuning the databases for performance, reliability, high availability, and scalability - Ability to work with others collectivity, as a Team - Scripting in Bash/Perl/JavaScript/Python - Percona Toolkits, PMM, ProxySQL, Orchestrator,Max Scale etc. - MySQL, MariaDB and AWS, Azure Certifications is a plus. - MariaDB Columnstore, Xpand and SkySQL is a plus - Automation using Ansible,Chef,Puppet or IaaC with Terraform/Cloud Formation,etc. - Preferable Kubernetes/Containers experience - Must have strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills. - Must have experience in MySQL database architecture, logical and physical design, - Automation, documentation, shell scripting, Stored procedure programming, query tuning, system tuning, resource contention analysis, backup, and recovery, standby, replication, etc. - Must have substantial hands-on knowledge on AWS Cloud and Azure Cloud. - Good knowledge of ITIL Framework - Ability to lead technical teams and run customer facing meetings - Ability to lead teams to resolve technical challenges and ensure tasks are being completed appropriately - Experience in an IT service-related supervisory and/or management position will be considered as an additional advantage Role and Responsibilities: - Review and propose database technologies, deployment topologies and stabilize Ops. - Lead efforts to develop and improve procedures for automated monitoring and proactive intervention, reducing any need downtime. - Participate in the creation of development, staging, and production database instances, and the migration from one environment to another. - Responsible for developing SQL code review to ensure queries are optimized and tuned to perform efficiently prior to production release. - Responsible for regular backups and recovery of databases. - Responsible for regular maintenance on databases (e.g., Re-indexing, Archiving). - Responsible for pro-active remediation of database operational problems. - Responsible for Query tuning and preventative maintenance.
