Very

Interviewing for a new company is a serious time commitment for all parties involved. Please take the time to read this and thoughtfully consider if we would be a good fit for one another. No contractors or agencies. Seriously. What You'll Be Working On With dozens of projects a year and team members spread across 16 different states and 6 countries, this is an exciting opportunity to function in a multi-national organization that is scaling in growth. Come help us build and scale our financial operations by designing and maintaining effective, accurate financial controls and systems. As Controller, you will be reporting directly to our CFO and your primary purpose is to implement financial policies that enable the organization to achieve its goals. You will be the primary owner of all day-to-day accounting activities including our accounting system, policies, and financial reports. Your day-to-day will involve things like: - Reporting the organization’s financial position to executives - Implementing company-wide financial standards and policies - Implementing accounting systems and processes to support the needs of the business - Approving contract invoicing and pricing terms - Maintaining the cash flow forecast - Invoicing customers for services and collection of AR - Oversight of payroll and benefits administration - All tax and risk activities - Mentoring and developing staff - Experience running the accounting function at a project-based services business. (size: >200 ppl or >$50M revenue) - Demonstrated ability to create and scale process - Experience and interest in corporate and project financial analysis - Strong Excel skills - [Not mandatory] Experience with Xero accounting software About Us Why Work at Very? The health, happiness and long-term career growth of our team is a top priority. What does that mean in practice? We give stipends for internet and telephone. We offer up to 21 weeks of maternity leave, 12 weeks of paternity leave, and 12 weeks for adoption or surrogacy. We have a $1,000 office stipend which allows you to make your battlestation somewhere you’re excited to work. Each employee gets a professional development stipend to use on conference registration, continuing education, professional memberships, etc... We're a remote-first company, so you can work where you want (in a hammock on the beach, anyone?). But a healthy company culture isn't just about perks. It's about creating an environment where our employees can lead fulfilling lives, both at work and at home. Working overtime for extended periods indicates a fundamental failure in planning or communication. If this happens at Very, it’s a sign that something needs to be reevaluated and corrected. If you’re looking around wondering why people aren’t in “crunch mode,” the answer’s pretty simple. The thing we work hardest at is hiring good people, so we want them to stick around and have a good balance between work and the rest of the important stuff in life. Contract Your contract with Very will be as an independent contractor for an indefinite period. This type of contract carries some additional responsibilities for you - you'll have to save some money to take care of taxes and you'll have to pay for public social security (Health and Pension) out of pocket. That being said, we're confident that our competitive compensation and benefits package (see below) will still mean that you are happy with your take-home amount at the end of each month. Compensation & Benefits Base Compensation We believe in a transparent, fair compensation structure and have developed our own open salary formula for Latin America-based employees. Depending on your skill and experience, you can expect to make somewhere between USD $5,500 and $6,500 per month upon joining the company. **Benefits**: - Annual Bonus: up to 10% in the first year (increases with promotions) - 14 days of paid time off your first year (increases with tenure) - You get a MacBook Pro or equivalent PC - $1,000 annual Home Office Stipend to build out your home office. - $250/mo Monthly Communications Stipend (Can be used towards Cell Phone Data Plan, WiFi Plan, VOIP, VPN) - Udemy license for continuing education - $3,000 annual Training Stipend after 1 year - $1,000 annual Healthcare Stipend (to be used towards Health insurance premium) - Personalized ESL coaching and access to an AI-powered adaptive platform to take your English to the next level Additional Perks (could vary) - Paid trip to somewhere in the World for the annual global company retreat. - Paid trip to somewhere in Latam every year for the Latam company retreat.
