We’re seeking a talented and forward-thinking Senior Ruby on Rails Developer to help drive the future of physical therapy by bringing expertise, creativity, and a passion for making a meaningful impact. In this role, you’ll play a key part in reshaping how physical therapy is delivered—empowering people to heal faster and avoid more intensive care down the line. You’ll lead the development of the backend system, architect scalable and reliable solutions, and ensure the platform evolves to meet growing demands. Your technical leadership will play a crucial role in driving innovation and shaping the next generation of healthcare technology. This is a full-time, fully remote position, paid in USD with competitive benefits. You’ll take ownership of backend development, lead technical decisions, and work closely with cross-functional teams to design, build, and scale products used by thousands of users. Responsibilities - Own the backend: design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and backend systems using Ruby on Rails. - Architect scalable solutions to handle growth, improve performance, and ensure reliability. - Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and frontend teams to deliver features end-to-end. - Integrate with third-party APIs and external services where needed. - Ship with confidence: write clean, testable code, perform thorough reviews, and monitor production systems. - Troubleshoot and debug complex issues across services and infrastructure. - Contribute to engineering standards, tooling, and best practices to elevate overall code quality. - Mentor junior developers and collaborate with distributed teams across time zones. Qualifications - 5+ years of professional software development experience. - 4+ years of production-level Ruby on Rails experience. - Solid experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and background job processing (Sidekiq, Resque, or similar). - Strong understanding of API design, RESTful services, and performance optimization. - Comfortable with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred). - Experience working on distributed teams and collaborating asynchronously. - Excellent communication skills in English — written and verbal. - A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to balance speed and quality. - Bonus: experience with Elixir, React, or other complementary technologies.
