Job Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Ubuntu Server team. In this role, you will oversee a globally distributed team of engineers responsible for cloud-init, the standard for customizing cloud instances. You will collaborate closely with Product Management to define and implement the vision and strategy for Ubuntu, as well as effectively communicate expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders. Your key responsibilities include developing talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development. You will also advocate and advance modern software development practices, promote a healthy engineering culture aligned with company values, and engage with teams at Canonical, the open source community, and commercial partners. You will participate in robust engineering processes through code and architectural review, contribute to the quality of the Ubuntu Server image family, plan and deliver Ubuntu Server features, and travel occasionally for internal and external events. About the Role The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience managing distributed teams. Proficiency in Agile software development methodologies is essential, as is a passion for fostering a collaborative engineering culture.
