The Legal Assistant works closely with the paralegals assigned in the same pod structure. Under the direction of your Team Lead, the Legal Assistant are responsible for providing administrative support in the duties below for proper handling of Personal Injury Claims. Duties & Responsibilities: Learn the fundamentals of File Vine. Become familiar with the language and understanding of Personal Injury Law. Enter Incident and Party information from the police report in Filevine. Confirm no conflicts when entering the police reports. If so, let the paralegal know to proceed accordingly. Contact the appropriate insurance companies to open claims for PIP, Medpay, and Liability. After obtaining claim information including the adjuster's name, contact information, and the claim number send the appropriate Letter of Representation with the required documents. Send document insurance letters to medical providers to bill proper insurance to avoid timely filing. Paralegals will need to specify if billing PIP, Med Pay, and/or Health Insurance. Include a copy of client's health insurance card. Send Personal Injury Protection (PIP) exhaust and Med Pay exhaust letters to providers and advise that health insurance is primary. Order medical records and bills from providers. Follow up on outstanding medical records and billing requests. Requirements Must have strong work ethic and be able to work well in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and work under pressure. Must be detail oriented and organized with a high volume of data. Must have exceptional communication and written skills. Must have basic computer skills including Word, Excel, Adobe, and Microsoft Outlook. Knowledge of insurance coverage and policies is helpful. Knowledge of relevant laws as it applies to personal injury claims, motor vehicle accidents and insurance is a plus. Full-Time Position (40 hours required). HS Diploma/GED, or equivalent experience preferred. Paralegal certificate a plus. Ability to type 40 WPM Comfortable working at a desk/computer for an 8 hour shift M-F. Preference for someone who has 2+ years of experience in Personal Injury.
