We are hiring a Senior Site Reliability / Gitops Engineer to our Information Systems (IS) team. This role offers an opportunity for an automation-focused senior technologist passionate about Linux to build a career with Canonical and support those leveraging Ubuntu and open source products. If you have experience in IT operations automation, Infrastructure as Code, and a passion for technology, you'll enjoy working with some of the best in the industry at Canonical. Job Summary The IS team supports and maintains all of Canonical's IT production services, serving over 60 million Ubuntu users. As a Senior SRE & Gitops engineer, you'll drive operations automation forward in both private and public clouds, utilizing open source infrastructure as code tools, CI/CD pipelines, and Canonical's automation products. You will also provide feedback to developers on product operation at scale, submit bugs, write pull requests, and collaborate across teams. You’ll be part of a global team of SREs supporting services for our company, customers, and the Ubuntu community. As a Senior Site Reliability / Gitops Engineer you will Lead automation and Gitops development within your team as an embedded tech lead Collaborate with the IS architect to align solutions with the IS architecture vision Design and architect services to be offered as products within IS Apply your IaC expertise to enhance automation and IaC processes Automate software operations for reusability and consistency across clouds, considering distributed systems complexities Maintain operational responsibility for core services, networks, and infrastructure Develop troubleshooting, capacity planning, and performance investigation skills, using observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Elasticsearch Assist and collaborate with globally distributed engineering, operations, and support teams Focus on larger projects and automation during dedicated development time Share expertise through design sessions, mentorship, and collaborative work Handle time-critical escalations responsibly What we are looking for in you A modern approach to hosting architecture driven by infrastructure as code across private and public clouds A product mindset focused on developing products, not just solutions Experience with Python in large projects Experience with Kubernetes or similar container orchestration systems Proven ability to manage and deploy cloud infrastructure via code Practical knowledge of Linux networking, routing, and firewalls Familiarity with Linux storage solutions like Ceph and databases Hands-on experience administering enterprise Linux servers Extensive knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in computer science or related engineering field Effective communication skills in English (email, chat, video, in person) Motivation and troubleshooting skills from kernel to web, with a collaborative attitude Flexibility and quick learner mindset Inspiration from fast-changing environments Comfort working within distributed teams Passion for open-source, especially Ubuntu or Debian #J-18808-Ljbffr
