Hiring Department HR Service Center Job Description Purpose and Scope The University of Missouri Human Resources provides leadership in planning, integration, and implementation of HR services for faculty and staff across all universities and healthcare systems. We serve as strategic advisors, focusing on continuous improvement through knowledge, collaboration, and leadership. This position is part of the UM System HR Service Center, a team of 6.5 FTE, skilled in multiple HR disciplines, providing customer service on policies, procedures, and administrative responsibilities related to recruiting, benefits, retirement, compensation, training, records management, and payroll, with an emphasis on benefits and retirement. The HR Service Center supports six business units, including four universities, MU health care, and UM system, serving over 20,000 benefit-eligible employees and 30,000 retirees, through various communication channels, handling over 38,000 calls, 3,500 walk-ins, and 20,000 emails annually. Responsibilities 60% Customer Service on Benefits and Retirement Support inquiries related to benefit and retirement plans, including SPD's, coverage, eligibility, COBRA, Medicare, and university-sponsored retirement plans. Provide professional, timely responses, document interactions, and escalate complex issues as needed. 30% Human Resource Policies and Programs Support Assist with paycheck questions, educational assistance, training programs, and leave benefits. Support routine inquiries and escalate complex issues appropriately. 10% Administrative Processing Handle benefit enrollments, changes, and documentation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Verify data, research discrepancies, and interact with customers and vendors. Maintain current knowledge of university HR policies and practices. Other duties may be assigned to support the university’s mission. Shift Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 1 year of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience in call center or HR; Bachelor's degree preferred. Anticipated Hiring Range Salary: $18.50 - $25.00/hour; Grade: GGS 008; Title: Human Resources Specialist II.
