**English Description** Every day, CivicScience gathers opinions from millions of consumers on thousands of topics that provide high-velocity insights to leading brands such as Apple, Microsoft, Bank of America, and T-Mobile. If there's a question critical to the marketing strategy of the Global 2000, it's likely that CivicScience has the data. We've just raised a fresh round of capital from prominent investors who are excited about our ability to use ethically sourced data to help brands and publishers accelerate their businesses. This engineer will serve as a key technical architect and developer for CivicScience's core data infrastructure that underlies all of the company's insights and activation products. This includes data pipelines, our proprietary Cascabel data platform, and data warehousing. The lead engineer also will partner with data science to lay the foundation for ML Ops platforms to support their work. As a technologist who loves all things data, the lead engineer will be expert at both the long and short game: evaluating emerging technologies and finding solutions to pressing product needs, while rolling up his/her sleeves to design and develop the ultimate solution along with the rest of the data engineering team. **You will**: - Serve as the technical lead for CivicSciences' data engineering efforts, with responsibility for microservice development, data pipelines, ETL, internal and third-party database systems, and business intelligence technology. - Implement and support a platform that can provide performant, real-time access to PB-scale datasets. - Extend data platform to enhance scale, resiliency, and functionality. - Practice good technical hygiene regarding work such as clean code and clear documentation, as well as mentor other team members and participate in internal reviews. - Contribute to the overall architecture and technical direction of the broader CivicScience platform. - Work hands-on on coding challenges every day collaborating with an extraordinary and talented team of engineers, DevOps, UX Designers, Product Managers, Data Scientists, and so on, to bring the best products to life. - Monitor the evolving space of big data platforms and provide planning on how to evolve data storage and processes over time. **Desired skills/experience**: - 8+ years' experience with hands-on software development, with a focus on microservice architecture, data processing, performance, and scalability - Fluency in Java, Scala, and/or Python. - Design and operational experience with RDBMS, NoSQL databases as well as Google BigQuery and Snowflake - Working with software containerization such as Docker and Kubernetes. - Experience in building event-driven microservices - Experience in an early or growth-stage start-up is a plus. - Experience in martech, adtech, or data SaaS product development is a strong plus. - Builder mentality - you think in terms of how technology can solve business problems, and have demonstrated success in creating products that make an impact. - Excellent written communication skills. - English proficiency with at least B1 level at the written level. - Positive, people-oriented, and energetic attitude. - Support our culture by being engaged, intellectually curious, and motivated to solve complex problems. * Who We Are (and why you want to work for us! )* - Fast and forward-looking consumer intelligence.
