The Role - Lead the design and development of new and existing systems, collaborating with engineers and stakeholders. - Establish and promote best practices within the team, creating standards as needed. - Recommend and implement new technologies to achieve business objectives and optimize systems. - Balance immediate and long-term business needs while guiding technical direction. - Troubleshoot and resolve software issues using logs, metrics, and performance data. - Review and enhance code, system design, and development processes to improve efficiency. - Participate in team strategy, planning, and cross-team projects. Required Expertise - 5+ years of experience with Elixir/Phoenix in production environments. - 10+ years of experience in building and scaling backend systems across various environments. - Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, including CI/CD, 12-factor apps, unit testing, design patterns, and performance optimization. - Proven experience in developing complex web systems. - Experience with third-party integrations such as Stripe, POS systems, or logistics APIs. - Solid troubleshooting, performance tuning, and debugging skills. - Bonus: familiarity with tools like Kubernetes, DataDog, or Honeybadger, or personal preferred tools.
