Overview of the job The job holder will lead the management and assessment of selected low to medium risk prisoners and prepare, implement, review, and evaluate their sentence plans. They will build effective, appropriate, and supportive relationships with prisoners to reduce re-offending. The job holder will act in a supportive role to probation officers in managing high-risk prisoners and will have undergone specialized training as a Prison Offender Manager. All staff are responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The post holder must undertake relevant training and adhere to safeguarding policies. This is a non-operational role with no line management responsibilities. The role is rotational and involves regular prisoner-facing activities. Summary of typical tasks: Supervise, manage, signpost, and advise prisoners safely and securely. Understand and conform to national and local policies. Establish and maintain professional relationships with prisoners and staff. Maintain and update systems as per local agreements. Prepare documentation for verification and quality checks. Participate in relevant meetings. Assess and manage risks posed by offenders to protect victims and the public, including: Providing information and advice to criminal justice agencies.
