Job Description: Paired is hiring a Tax Accountant on behalf of a fast-growing U.S.-based tax advisory firm that serves high-level entrepreneurs, creators, and small business owners. As their client base expands, they are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented professional who can uphold the firm's high standards for precision, efficiency, and clear communication - both internally and externally. This is not just a data entry or preparer role. We are looking for a true Tax Accountant who is confident in preparing returns, reviewing financials, communicating with clients via email, and managing the task flow inside Canopy CRM. This full-time role is fully remote but requires active collaboration with both the internal team and external clients in a highly organized, digital environment. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare and finalize federal and state tax returns for individuals and small businesses, ensuring accuracy and full compliance with U.S. tax law - Review financial statements (for businesses) and analyze source documents (for individuals, such as W-2s, 1099s, etc.) to prepare tax-ready files - Maintain organized, audit-ready records aligned with IRS requirements - Communicate with clients regularly via email to request missing documents, answer tax-related questions, and provide updates - Turn email correspondence into actionable tasks within Canopy CRM so the full team can track the progress of each client file - Collaborate with the admin assistant to ensure proper task assignment and deadline tracking - Help triage and maintain the tax team's shared email inbox, using strong judgment to respond or delegate as appropriate - Consistently meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism - Stay current with U.S. tax code changes, particularly for federal and California returns Requirements: - Minimum of 3 years of experience preparing U.S. tax returns for individuals and small businesses Active CPA or EA license Strong understanding of U.S. federal and California tax regulations * Experience reviewing financials and preparing returns from both books and individual source documents - Excellent written communication skills - this role relies heavily on clear, professional email correspondence with clients - Proficiency in Canopy CRM (or strong willingness to learn) and other tax tools/software - Experience working independently and collaboratively in a remote-first tax or accounting firm - Strong task management instincts and ability to prioritize work across multiple client accounts Bonus If You: - Have prior experience using Canopy CRM for both client communication and task management - Are confident organizing and overseeing the tax lifecycle for a portfolio of clients - Have experience working with entrepreneurs, content creators, or multi-entity businesses Benefits: - USD salary - Flexible hours - Remote work
